Glaucoma

Glaucoma

Often referred to as “the silent thief of sight”, glaucoma is a disease where the retinal nerve fiber layer is damaged (either by high intraocular pressure or vascular non-perfusion) leading to peripheral vision loss and eventual blindness. However, early detection and treatment of the disease can limit the damage and prevent blindness.

At Gold Circle Optical, we use advanced medical technology and the latest equipment in visual field testing that allows us to detect glaucoma in its earliest stages. Treatment can involve several pathways (all trying to lower intraocular pressure); eyedrops to either increase drainage, or decrease fluid production and minor surgical procedures, some involving the laser.
